field of use

Disturbed digestive processes, poor nutrition, flatulent foods and swallowing air often lead to flatulence. Especially in babies and small children, flatulence often occurs as a result of hasty drinking. The gas accumulations are then present in the gastrointestinal tract as sluggish, small-bubble foam. The active ingredient in Lefaxin Drops causes the foam to break down. This allows the intestinal gases to escape naturally. The active ingredient itself is not absorbed into the bloodstream, but excreted unchanged.

The application takes place at:

• Excessive gas formation and gas accumulation in the gastrointestinal area (meteorism) with symptoms such as flatulence, a feeling of fullness and a feeling of tension in the upper abdomen, which can be caused, for example, by swallowing air or by incorrect nutrition or diet.
• increased gas formation after operations and Roemheld syndrome.
• to prepare the gastrointestinal area for diagnostic examinations to reduce gas shadows and to improve imaging and/or visualize the mucous membranes.
• In the event of ingestion and poisoning from cleaning agents (eg soap, shampoo).

Contraindications

Do not take Lefaxin drops if you are allergic to simethicone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

interactions

Although no interactions are known to date, influences on the absorption of other medicinal substances cannot be ruled out due to the surface-active properties of the active substance.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine. Since simethicone is not absorbed, Lefaxin drops can be administered during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

application

Unless otherwise prescribed, follow the dosage exactly.

Lefaxin drops are particularly indicated for infants and children who are bottlefed, the elderly and those who wear prostheses.
Lefaxin drops can also be taken by diabetics.

To treat gas and bloating, the following is recommended:

• For infants and bottle-fed children, add 1-2 pumps to each bottle.
• Small children take 2 pumps, adults 2-4 pumps with or after meals (in a glass) with some water; if necessary, also before going to bed.

In preparation for diagnostic examinations in the abdominal area, adults take 4-6 pumps after each meal on the day before the examination and in the morning of the examination day.

In the case of poisoning with cleaning agents, the dosage is based on the severity of the poisoning. 5-20 pumps (2.5-10 ml) are recommended for children and 20-40 pumps (10-20 ml) for adults.

The duration of intake depends on the type and course of the symptoms.

If necessary, Lefaxin drops can be taken over a longer period of time.

Shake Lefaxin drops before use!

Instructions for handling the dosing pump:

• Remove the screw cap from the bottle.
• Screw the dosing pump onto the neck of the bottle.
• Hold the bottle upright while pumping.
• Turn pump mechanism to position I (see cap), then actuate until liquid comes out. Do not use the first 4 pumps yet.
• After screwing on the dosing pump for the first time (first use), it must not be unscrewed again (do not screw the pump on and off for each use).

To compensate for the small loss of liquid when the dosing pump is started up and the amount that remains after the preparation has been opened, the bottle contains a correspondingly larger amount of suspension. The dosing pump can be closed by turning it clockwise to position O (see cover).

Lefaxin drops can be given with or after meals and mix easily with cold and warm drinks (e.g. tea, water, milk) as well as bottle and baby food. If necessary, also before going to bed.

If the symptoms persist or if the expected success from the application does not occur, medical advice is required as soon as possible. If you have any further questions on the use of the medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist. 

side effects

Possible side effects: Hypersensitivity reactions such as reddening of the skin, hives, swelling of the skin or mucous membranes and itching.

composition

1ml suspension (2 pumps) contains 41.2 mg simethicone as an active ingredient.

The other ingredients are: sorbic acid 1.20 mg/ml, potassium sorbate 0.402 mg/ml, sodium cyclamate 1.35 mg/ml, sodium saccharin 0.15 mg/ml, macrogol 6000, magnesium aluminum silicate type IIA, hydroxyethyl cellulose, polyoxyethylene 25-glycerol trioleate, banana flavor 209 152, citric acid anhydrous, purified water.
