easyangin are lozenges for local use in the mouth and throat. easyangin contains the germ-killing drug (antiseptic) chlorhexidine and the topical pain-relieving drug lidocaine.
easyangin is used for supportive, short-term local treatment of mild to moderately severe inflammation of the throat and mouth (sore throat, pharyngitis, hoarseness, inflammation of the mouth and throat (pharyngitis) and gums). If you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 3 days, contact your doctor.

Contraindications

easyangin should not be used

  • if you are allergic to chlorhexidine or lidocaine (or a similar narcotic) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
  • for larger, fresh wounds in the mouth and throat.
  • by children under 6 years of age.
  • if you suffer from bronchial asthma or other respiratory diseases associated with marked hypersensitivity of the airways. Inhaling easyangin can make you short of breath or trigger an asthma attack.

interactions

Do not use at the same time as other germicidal medicines (antiseptics).
Beta-blockers (medicines for high blood pressure and certain heart conditions) and cimetidine (certain medicines for stomach and duodenal problems) can increase the side effects of high doses of lidocaine.

Taking easyangin with food and drink
Avoid eating or drinking immediately after using the lozenges to reduce the risk of choking.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

In the absence of sufficient data, use during pregnancy and breast-feeding is not recommended. 

easyangin contains sorbitol.
Please only take easyangin after consulting your doctor if you know that you suffer from a sugar intolerance.
Sorbitol can cause gastrointestinal distress and diarrhea. From about 9 tablets per day Sorbitol can have a slightly laxative effect. 

Note for diabetics:
Easyangin contains the sugar substitute sorbitol. The caloric value is 2.6 kcal/g sorbitol. One lozenge corresponds to 0.1 bread unit (BE).

Easyangin is sugar free.

application

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dosage is:
Adults:
Dissolve 1 lozenge slowly in the mouth every 2 hours. A maximum daily dose of 10 tablets must not be exceeded.

Adolescents and children over 6 years of age:
Half the recommended dose for adults. Dissolve 1 lozenge slowly in the mouth every 4 hours. A maximum daily dose of 5 tablets must not be exceeded.

Elderly patients and patients with impaired liver or kidney function
There are no data on elderly patients and patients with impaired liver or kidney function.

This medicine should not be used for more than 3 days. If there is no relief of symptoms within 3 days, a doctor must be consulted.

Method of administration:
For oral use. To suck.

side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. 

Rarely, taste disorders, numbness of the tongue and allergic skin and mucous membrane reactions can occur. Rashes and inflammatory skin reactions (dermatitis) have been reported. Temporary taste irritation is possible with prolonged use. With long-term use of preparations containing chlorhexidine, discoloration of the tooth surface can occur, but this can be removed again with dental care; tongue discoloration is also possible.

Very rarely, severe hypersensitivity (allergic/anaphylactic) reactions such as skin rash, itching, swollen face, shortness of breath, dizziness and low blood pressure may occur. Due to the sorbitol content, a laxative effect can occur.

composition

The active ingredients are chlorhexidine dihydrochloride and lidocaine hydrochloride monohydrate.
1 lozenge contains 5 mg chlorhexidine dihydrochloride and 1 mg lidocaine hydrochloride monohydrate.

The other ingredients are: sorbitol (E 420), magnesium stearate, citric acid (anhydrous), menthol.
