Fenivir is a beige to light brown cream used to treat cold sores (herpes labialis) caused by herpes simplex. The cream should be applied as soon as possible if discomfort occurs, if the lips start to "tingle" and/or if swelling/blisters start to form. It should not be used if scabs have formed. If you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 4 days, contact your doctor. Fenivir blocks the ability of the herpes simplex virus to multiply. Recovery time, pain duration and visible signs of the virus are reduced by up to 24 hours.
