The perfectly balanced, fruity and chypre eau de toilette for women by Guerlain Mitsouko is inspired by the story of the main heroine of the novel La Bataille and the Japanese culture that literally fascinated European society in 1919.

"Mitsouko" also means "secret" in Japanese and symbolizes a passionate and mysterious femininity. The Guerlain Mitsouko fragrance also contains all of this, in whose mysterious and velvety soft scent juicy peach, warm aromatic spices and woody-earthy tones of the forest play a major role.

  • fruity chypre fragrance
  • introduced to the market as early as 1919
  • inspired by Japanese culture

Fragrance composition
Mysterious, perfectly balanced and velvety. This is how the fragrance composition of Guerlain Mitsouko could be described. It combines the fruity aroma of juicy peach with jasmine flowers and rose. A mixture of spicy notes, vetiver and forest aromas add to the mysterious scent.

The story of the fragrance
In 1919, Europe was literally fascinated by Japan and the culture of the Far East. And it was Japanese culture that inspired Jacques Guerlain to create the fragrance Mitsouko, named after the main heroine of the best-selling novel of the time, called La Bataille. The story takes place in 1905, when war broke out between Japan and Russia. A beautiful Japanese woman, Mitsouko, married to a Japanese admiral, secretly loved a British officer. Both men went to war, and Mitsouko is waiting to see which of them will return.

The beautiful art nouveau-style flacon with an avant-garde heart-shaped cap is the work of Georges Chevalier.
