    Interactions

Taking Cough ACC directly with other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.

    This applies in particular to:

    • Cough suppressants (antitussives)
When Cough ACC direct and cough suppressants are used in combination, a dangerous build-up of secretions can occur due to the restricted cough reflex. This combination treatment requires a particularly careful diagnosis. Therefore, be sure to ask your doctor before combined use.
    • Antibiotics
In order to avoid an influence on the effectiveness of antibiotics, antibiotics must be taken separately and at least 2 hours apart. This does not apply to medicines containing the active ingredients cefixime and loracarbef. These had no interactions and can be taken at the same time as acetylcysteine.
    • Activated charcoal
The use of activated charcoal can reduce the effects of acetylcysteine.
    • Nitroglycerin
An increase in the vasodilator and blood-thinning effect of glycerol trinitrate (nitroglycerin) has been reported when administered simultaneously with acetylcysteine. Your doctor will monitor you for a decrease in blood pressure, which may be serious and may be indicated by a headache.

    Determination of laboratory parameters
If you have a laboratory test carried out, please inform your doctor directly about taking Cough ACC, as it can influence the determination of:

    • Salicylates: Active ingredients used to treat pain, inflammation or rheumatism
    • Ketone bodies in urinalysis

    Application

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

It can be taken without water.
Dissolution of acetylcysteine formulations along with other drugs is not recommended.

    Note:
