Immediate help for diarrhea, ideal for on the go

    • Melts in your mouth in seconds
    • Easy to take without water

    use

IMODIUM® acute 2 mg orodispersible tablets offer innovative help for acute diarrhea. No water is necessary to take it. The orodispersible tablets dissolve on the tongue in seconds. This is particularly useful if you are on the move or have difficulty swallowing. Thanks to their fresh mint taste, the melting tablets make it easier to take, especially if you have diarrhea with nausea.

    field of use

Imodium acute is a medicine against diarrhea and contains the active ingredient loperamide hydrochloride.

It is used for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea for adolescents aged 12 and over and adults if no causal therapy is available.

Treatment with loperamide hydrochloride for longer than 2 days may only be carried out under medical prescription and follow-up.

If you don't feel better or feel worse after 2 days, contact your doctor.

    Contraindications

Imodium acute must not be taken

    • if you are allergic to loperamide hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
    • of children under 12 years.
    • if you suffer from conditions where slowing of bowel movements should be avoided, e.g. B. bloated abdomen, constipation and intestinal obstruction. Imodium acute must be discontinued immediately if constipation, abdominal distention or intestinal obstruction (ileus) occurs.
    • if you suffer from diarrhea accompanied by fever and/or bloody stools.
    • if you suffer from diarrhea that occurs during or after taking antibiotics.
    • if you suffer from chronic diarrheal diseases. (These diseases may only be treated with loperamide hydrochloride as prescribed by a doctor.)
    • if you are suffering from an acute attack of ulcerative colitis (ulcer inflammation of the colon).
    • in the case of bacterial intestinal inflammation, which is caused by pathogens penetrating the intestinal wall.

    Interactions

Please talk to your doctor especially if you need to take one or more of the following active ingredients:

    • Ritonavir (medicine used to treat HIV infection)
    • Quinidine (medicine used to treat cardiac arrhythmias and malaria)
    • Desmopressin (medicine used to control thirst behavior and urine production in patients with diabetes insipidus)
    • itraconazole or ketoconazole (medicines used to treat a fungal infection)
    • Gemfibrozil (medicine used to treat high blood lipids)

It is expected that drugs with a similar mechanism of action to Imodium can acutely increase its effect and drugs that accelerate gastrointestinal transit can reduce its effect.

    Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

    Pregnancy
Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant. Your doctor will then decide whether you can take Imodium acutely.

    Breast-feeding
Since small amounts of loperamide hydrochloride can pass into breast milk, Imodium acute should not be taken during breast-feeding.

    Method of
    administration Oral use.
To remove the orodispersible tablet, completely remove the foil strip on the back of the blister pack. Do not force the orodispersible tablet through the blister pack as this may damage it.
Place Imodium acutely on the tongue. The orodispersible tablet melts immediately in the tongue and is swallowed with saliva.

    Duration of use
