Legalon 140 belongs to a group of medicines used to treat liver disease. It contains an extract from the fruits of milk thistle and is used as a supportive treatment for toxic liver damage, chronic inflammatory liver disease or liver cirrhosis.
The herbal active ingredient in Legalon 140 is silymarin, which acts as a cell membrane stabilizer, thus protecting the liver from the harmful effects and restoring liver cells damaged by them. Legalon treatment is only beneficial if the effect of a toxic substance that causes liver damage (eg alcohol) is stopped. The product is not suitable for the treatment of acute poisoning.
The pack contains 30 capsules.
Dosage and method of use
Adults and adolescents from 12 years of age take 1 capsule 3 times a day at the beginning of treatment, the maintenance dose is 1 capsule twice a day.
Drink the unused capsule with plenty of liquid.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking Legalon 140.
Ingredients
The active substance is sylimarin. One capsule contains: Silybi mariani fructus extractum siccum (36-44: 1) extracted with ethyl acetate 173.0 mg-186.7 mg, corresponding to silymarin 140 mg. The other ingredients are: povidone, mannitol, polysorbate 80, sodium starch glycolate (type A), magnesium stearate, black iron oxide, red iron oxide, titanium dioxide, gelatin, sodium lauryl sulphate.
Contraindication
Not intended for children under 12 years. Therefore, always consult your doctor during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
Do not take Legalon 140 if you are allergic to silymarin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
