What is celiac disease?

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation of the small intestine . Symptoms of the disease include diarrhea, weight loss, abdominal bloating, malnutrition and skin reactions. This inflammation is caused by gliadin, the protein component of gluten, found in wheat, barley, rye, spelled and many other grains .
