ratioDolor flurbiprofen 8.75 mg lemon flavored lozenges contain flurbiprofen. Flurbiprofen belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). This medicine works by affecting how the body responds to pain, swelling and fever.

ratioDolor flurbiprofen 8.75 mg lemon flavored lozenges are used for short-term relief of symptoms associated with a sore throat such as sore throat, pain and swelling, and difficulty swallowing in adults and children 12 years and older.

Contact a doctor if symptoms worsen or don't improve after 3 days.

Contraindications

ratioDolor flurbiprofen 8.75 mg lemon flavored lozenges should not
be used if you

  • are allergic to flurbiprofen or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
  • ever had asthma, unexpected wheezing or shortness of breath, an irritated nose, swelling of the face or an itchy rash (hives) after taking acetylsalicylic acid or any other NSAID.
  • have or have ever had an ulcer (one or more occurrences of stomach or duodenal ulcers) in the stomach or intestines.
  • have ever suffered from bleeding or perforation in the stomach or intestines, severe inflammation of the large bowel (colitis) or blood disorders after taking NSAIDs.
  • are in the last three months of pregnancy.
  • have or have ever had severe heart, kidney or liver problems.

Other medicines and ratioDolor flurbiprofen 8.75 mg lemon flavored lozenges Please tell
your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or might take/use any other medicines, including over the counter medicines available medicines.

This applies in particular to the following medicines:

  • low doses of acetylsalicylic acid (up to 75 mg daily)
  • Medicines for high blood pressure or heart failure (antihypertensives, cardiac glycosides)
  • water tablets (diuretics, including potassium-sparing medicines)
  • blood-thinning medicines (anticoagulants, antithrombotic agents)
  • Medicines for gout (Probenecid, Sulfinpyrazone)
  • other NSAIDs or corticosteroids (such as celecoxib, ibuprofen, diclofenac sodium, or prednisolone)
  • mifepristone (a medicine used to terminate a pregnancy)
  • Quinolone antibiotics (such as ciprofloxacin)
  • cyclosporine or tacrolimus (used to suppress the immune system) phenytoin (used to treat epilepsy)
  • methotrexate (used to treat autoimmune diseases or cancer)
  • Lithium or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) (used to treat depression)
  • Oral antidiabetics (used to treat diabetes)
  • zidovudine (used to treat HIV)

Drinking alcohol should be avoided during treatment with ratioDolor flurbiprofen 8.75 mg lemon flavored lozenges as it may increase the risk of bleeding in the stomach or intestines .

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Flurbiprofen belongs to a group of medicines that can affect fertility in women. This effect is reversible when the use of the medicine is stopped. Occasional use of this medicine is unlikely to affect your ability to become pregnant. However, talk to your doctor before using this medicine if you have trouble conceiving.

Do not use this medicine if you are in the last 3 months of pregnancy. If you are in the first 6 months of pregnancy or are breast-feeding, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.

application

Always use flurbiprofen 8.75 mg lemon flavored lozenges exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Recommended dosage: For adults and children over 12 years of age.

  • Lozenge every 3-6 hours if necessary
  • Do not take more than 5 lozenges in a 24 hour period.
  • Take 1 lozenge and let it slowly dissolve in your mouth. The lozenge should not be swallowed or chewed.
  • Keep moving the lozenge in your mouth while sucking.

Use in children:
Do not use on children under 12 years of age.

These lozenges are for short-term use only. You should only use as many lozenges as you need to relieve your symptoms, for the shortest possible time. If irritation occurs in the oral cavity, treatment with flurbiprofen must be discontinued.

Do not use flurbiprofen 8.75 mg lemon flavored lozenges for more than 3 days unless directed to do so by your doctor. If you do not feel better or if you feel worse, or if you develop new symptoms, talk to a doctor or pharmacist.

side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

STOP using flurbiprofen 8.75 mg Lemon Flavored Lozenge and seek medical help immediately if you notice any of the following:

  • Signs of an allergic reaction such as asthma, unexpected difficulty breathing in and/or out, shortness of breath, itching, runny nose, skin rashes, etc.
  • Swelling of the face, tongue or throat causing difficulty in breathing, tachycardia, drop in blood pressure and even shock (these can also occur when you first use the medicine).
  • Severe skin reactions such as peeling skin, blistering or scaly skin.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any of the following side effects or side effects not listed:

Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people)

  • dizziness, headache
  • irritation in the throat
  • mouth ulcers or pain
  • Sore throat
  • Unpleasant or unusual feeling in the mouth (warmth, burning, itching, tingling, etc.)
  • nausea and diarrhea
  • tingling and itching of the skin

Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people)

  • sleepiness
  • Tiredness or difficulty falling asleep
  • Worsening of asthma, wheezing, shortness of breath
  • blistering of the mouth or throat, numbness in the throat
  • dry mouth
  • Burning in the mouth, altered sense of taste
  • Bloated stomach, abdominal pain, flatulence, constipation, indigestion, nausea
  • Decreased sensation in the throat
  • fever, pain
  • Rashes, itchy skin

Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people)

  • anaphylactic reactions

Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data)

  • anemia, thrombocytopenia (low number of blood platelets, which can lead to bruising and bleeding)
  • Swelling (edema), high blood pressure, heart failure or heart attack
  • Severe skin reactions such as blistering including Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Lyell's syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis.
  • hepatitis (inflammation of the liver)
