    Tonsillol gargle solution is used

    • for infectious diseases of the mouth and throat caused by pathogens sensitive to dequalinium chloride, such as inflammation of the gums, inflammation of the oral mucosa, tonsillitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis
    • for purulent angina as an additional medication
    • bei Mundsoor (Pilzbefall)

    Tonsillol gargle solution can be used after tonsil operations and tooth extractions to promote uncomplicated healing.

    Contraindications

    Tonsillol gargle solution must not be used

    • if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to dequalinium chloride, propylene glycol, cinnamon (cinnamaldehyde) or any of the other ingredients of Tonsillol gargle solution. This also applies if you are hypersensitive to Peru balsam (cross allergy).
    • in infants and children up to 2 years of age (risk of laryngeal spasm).
    • in patients with bronchial asthma or other respiratory diseases that are associated with pronounced hypersensitivity of the airways. Inhaling Tonsillol gargle solution can cause shortness of breath or trigger an asthma attack.

    Interactions

    Dequalinium chloride is inactivated by protein, serum and pus, in the presence of common soaps, as well as by anionic, surface-active substances, materials such as porous materials (rubber, cotton, cork) and plastic materials (polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene), phospholipids and other fatty substances.

    Pregnancy and breast-feeding
    Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking/using any medicines.

    Data from a limited number of pregnant women do not suggest any effects of Tonsillol gargle on pregnancy or fetal/newborn health. No other relevant experience is available to date.
    Tonsillol gargle solution should therefore only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding after consulting a doctor.
    Therefore, please tell your doctor if you are pregnant, if you think you may be pregnant, if you are planning a pregnancy or if you are breast-feeding.

    Application

    Tonsillol gargle solution is ready to use and is used undiluted for gargling or rinsing.

    Rinse or gargle with undiluted Tonsillol gargle solution (15 ml) for about 15 to 30 seconds 2 to 3 times a day.
    A graduated measuring cup is included.
    It should be used in the morning (lunch) and evening after meals.

    Tonsillol gargle solution should be discontinued a few days after the symptoms have subsided.

    Note:
    If the symptoms are accompanied by fever, or if the symptoms do not subside significantly after 3 days at the latest, a doctor should be consulted, as there may be tonsillitis that requires treatment and can trigger serious secondary diseases of the heart and kidneys.

    Side effects

    Like all medicines, Tonsillol gargle solution can cause side effects.

    • Contact allergies have been described, occasionally with swelling of the throat mucosa and obstruction of the airways
    • Mucous membrane irritation and itching
    • Delays wound healing when applied to wounds
    • Raising awareness is possible

    Tonsillol gargle solution can cause laryngeal spasm in infants and children up to 2 years of age, resulting in severe breathing problems.

    Cinnamon (cinnamaldehyde) can cause skin irritation.

    composition

    The active ingredient is:
    Dequalinium chloride 100 ml solution contains 10 mg dequalinium chloride.

    The other ingredients are:
    propylene glycol, dentomint oil, macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate (Cremophor RH 455), poloxamer 188, fatty acid sarcoid sodium salt (Medialan LD), sodium cyclamate, patent blue E 131; CI 42051, Sodium Dihydrogen Phosphate Dihydrate, Sodium Hydroxide, Purified Water
